Prayer for our next Bible Study

Women’s Ministry Leader, Pat See, called the women to the front to prayer for them on Sunday, January 8, 2017. Here’s what she shared (see another promo video on the Redeemed study at the end of this post) :

My purpose this morning is to introduce you to the coming Bible Study, Redeemed. I have not been so excited about a Bible Study in a long time and let me tell you why.

  • We have just finished a season of celebrating the birth of the Savior who came to redeem us. We want to continue this celebration in this study “Redeemed”. We will be sharing our redeemed stories with each other and learning the Biblical truth of redemption in simple and understandable ways so that we can share the redeemed story with others. We will be reminded that Jesus continues to redeem us everyday.
  • Maybe in the New Year you are wanting to energize your prayer life – You will have the opportunity to learn to pray the scriptures from the Book of Psalms.
  • But the most exciting part to me about this study is you and I have the opportunity to ask a neighbor, a friend who does not know Jesus to attend. Sharing the gospel is difficult in the age we live in for many different reasons and this study will give you that opportunity. We have already been praying that God will cause those you ask to be receptive.
  • At this study, your friends will have a chance to listen to the plan of salvation from the word of God, hear redeemed stories from other women, have a chance to receive prayer and ask questions in a safe, loving environment.
  • Maybe you are here this morning and have heard the word “Redeemed” but you really don’t understand all that encompasses. You want to know but you have not had an opportunity to ask questions, search scriptures and have someone pray with you. This is your opportunity.
  • As you think about it, could anything be more exciting in the New Year than leading your friend or neighbor to Christ, you yourself find the assurance of your salvation, your prayer life expanding as you learn to pray the scripture. I hope you have caught the vision and know why I am so excited to invite you to our coming study. I hope you will attend and bring a friend.
  • Bible Study starts January 13 at 9:30 in the Chapel with a kickoff brunch. Just come and enjoy as we get better acquainted. The table to my right can answer any questions you may have, sign you up and give you a book. If you are not prepared this Sunday, you will be able to get a book in the church office or at our kickoff brunch on January 13. The study will begin the following week, January 20th.
  • As you can tell we have a lot of exciting things going on in Women’s Ministry. We invite you to join us. Let’s pray.
  • Father, I thank you for each woman standing here this morning. I pray you would plant a passion in each heart for You, and for the unsaved. Lord give each of us inner strength through the Holy Spirit so we can meet the challenges of the coming year. Strengthen us with your glorious power so that we can be overcomers; Fill us with joy and thankgiving. Let our roots go deep into the soil of Your love so that we will be able to accomplish more than they dared to ask or hoped for so the Christ will be gloried in our lives. Lord, let us be women who live in a way that honors your name. Father, I know there are women standing before me who feel overcome by their circumstances this morning, wrap them in your love, fill them with hope and strength them; for those that are sick or have a loved one who is sick, we pray for your healing touch; for those whose children have gone astray, we thank you that you are the good shepherd who goes after each lamb who is lost. Go after our children Lord. For each need this morning, we thank you that you are sufficient to meet that need. Thank you that you are a God who does exceeding more than we can ask or think and we thank you and give you praise for hearing our prayers this morning. In Jesus Name, our Redeemer that we pray. Amen

We wanted to take this opportunity to invite you to the Redeemed Study staring January 13 with a kickoff brunch. It will be a fun day of getting to know one another and sharing a meal together. Best of all you don’t have to bring a thing. Just come and enjoy. We will be introducing you to the study but the video series officially begins January 20th.

  • To teach the Biblical truths of redemption in simple and understandable ways.
  • To invite those who are not followers of Jesus to follow Him. To be redeemed.
  • To equip followers of Jesus to better understand their faith, so they can share their faith and the redeemed story with others.
  • To challenge followers of Jesus to continue being redeemed in their everyday lives, in everyday ways.
  • To remind the followers of Jesus of the hope to which they have been called.
  • To learn to pray the scriptures from the Book of Psalms.

Fall 2016 Bible Studies

Women’s Fall Bible Studies

Friday Mornings:

About the Study

Peter: A Living Hope in Christ a 9 session DVD Bible Study by Jen Wilkin. Fridays at 9:30am in the Chapel. Childcare. Books $13. Study starts September 9.

Our inheritance through Christ is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. In 1 Peter, a man of faith and flaws and eyewitness to the life of Christ challenges us to look beyond our current circumstances to a future inheritance. He shares his concerns on big picture issues for the early church, describes believers’ true identity in Christ, and ultimately helps readers discover what it means to experience the Living Hope they have in Christ. Key themes of humility, submission, and identity in Christ. Participants are challenged to read the book of 1 Peter in its entirety each week.

Fall 2016 bible studies

Wednesday Evenings:

Our Fall Study for Wednesday Evenings will be – Let.It.Go – a 6 week video study by Karen Ehman. (We did this study during summer of 2016 so if you need to make up any sessions, please feel free to come). Led by Linda Clements and members of the Women’s Ministry Team, this study meets on Wednesdays at 6pm in Room 202. Childcare will be available. Workbook/book combo is $20.

Women are wired to control. We make sure the house is clean, the meals are prepared, the beds are made, the children are dressed, and everyone gets to where they’re going on time. But sometimes our strength of being conscientious can morph into the weakness of being a slight—or all out—control freak! This humorous, yet spiritually practical book will help you learn how to control what you should, trust God with what you can’t, and more importantly, decide which one is which! Join Karen Ehman, a recovering control freak, as she enables you to:

• Draw the line between mothering and micromanaging
• Influence your husband instead of manipulating him
• Take control of your schedule yet welcome interruptions from God
• Learn to control your emotions when you can’t control the circumstances
• Stop pursuing the appearance of perfection and start pursuing the person of God
