Encouraging Words

Glorify God in Your Body – Encouragement #11

In 2015 the Women’s Ministry at Country Oaks Baptist Church is focusing on strengthening body and soul.  We offer the following encouragements as you seek to glorify God in your body:

craveEncouragement from a book:

Healthy Eating Go-To Scripts from Made to Crave by Lysa TerKeurst

#6 – Struggling with weight isn’t God’s mean curse on me, but an outside indication that internal changes are needed for me to function and feel well.

Encouragement from THE book:

Ephesians 4:1 (MSG)  To Be Mature

In light of all this, here’s what I want you to do… I want you to get out there and walk—better yet, run!—on the road God called you to travel. I don’t want any of you sitting around on your hands. I don’t want anyone strolling off, down some path that goes nowhere. And mark that you do this with humility and discipline—not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love, alert at noticing differences and quick at mending fences.

Galatians 5 – Life by the Spirit

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself…

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. .. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Note to self:

It’s NOT all about me.  It doesn’t depend all on me and my own strength.  I’m not doing this alone.

The Holy Spirit…

  • Teaches us all things (John 14:26)

  • Guides us in the Truth (John 16:13)
  • Gives us wisdom/knowledge (Ephesians 3:16)
  • Strengthens us (Ephesians 3:16)
  • He comforts us (Acts 9:31)
