We got a group together to go to the Kern County Christian Women’s Conference on February 27, 2010 at Valley Bible Fellowship (VBF @ 2300 East Brundage Lane – you can see it from the 58 highway) in Bakersfield, California. (we went to Famous Dave’s afterwards for food, fun and fellowship – see picture above)
The theme was “Finding Hope in an Unstable World.” The cost is only $15 and the registration deadline is February 21. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in carpooling. You need to sign your self up. Brochures are available in the church office. The conference starts at 8:30 am and ends at 3:15 pm. It includes sessions entitled: “Putting Your Trust in a Capable God” and “Anchoring Your Hope in the Promises of God.” The text comes from the book of Jeremiah and the speakers are Mary Maggard, Teri Thompson and Janet Ables.
5 This is what the Lord says:
“Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans,
who rely on human strength
and turn their hearts away from the Lord.
6 They are like stunted shrubs in the desert,
with no hope for the future.
They will live in the barren wilderness,
in an uninhabited salty land.
7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit.
